dynamicWatch™ is the fastest and easiest way to create and download routes to your Garmin watch, Edge, or GPS, right from your phone or computer. We have two Garmin Connect IQ apps that you can download to your Garmin watch, Edge cycling computer, or Oregon/Rino GPS:

Designed for cyclists, runners and hikers, just install the matching app on your device, and use this web page, dynamic.watch, to create routes using our mobile-friendly route Planner (or import routes from popular sites like Strava, Ride with GPS and MapMyRun) and send them to the device.

If you use Chrome as the web browser on your computer we have a Chrome Extension that adds a button to your toolbar to save routes directly from these websites. It's now incredibly easy to leverage the wealth of awesome routes on those sites, then send them to your Garmin watch or Edge with just a click of our button!

Don't get lost on your ride, run or hike!

dynamicWatch™ is the fastest and easiest way to create and download routes to your Garmin watch, Edge, or GPS, right from your phone or computer. We have two Garmin Connect IQ apps that you can download to your Garmin watch, Edge cycling computer, or Oregon/Rino GPS:

Designed for cyclists, runners and hikers, just install the matching app on your device, and use this web page, dynamic.watch, to create routes using our mobile-friendly route Planner (or import routes from popular sites like Strava, Garmin Connect Ride with GPS and MapMyRun) and send them to the device.

dwMap adds a route map feature that most of the Garmin GPS watches do not even have, letting you stay on course with just a simple glance at your wrist. More...

routeCourse leverages the built-in maps feature of your Garmin Edge, Oregon or Rino, but allows you to create and download routes far more easily than any other available services. More...

Use the bigger screen of your phone, tablet or computer to create and select a route, and your device will automatically download it next time you start the app. Your device only needs an internet connection (through your phone) if you want to download a new route. Otherwise it is self-contained and designed for use outside of cellular service. The website is fully mobile-enable to use on your phone.

When you're ready for more, dynamicWatch Premium adds customizable watch data fields, watch route navigation prompts and off-course warnings, elevation profile and stats in Planner, a route Archive and Collections, editing of imported routes in Planner, OpenCycleMaps (OCM) map type, waypoints and geocaching, GPX exports and no advertising.

The following tips apply to both our dwMap and routeCourse apps.

  • Error Code 1 or 2 when I start the app on my Garmin
Your Garmin must be connected via Bluetooth to Garmin Mobile Connect on your Android or iPhone/iPad. Check the following:
    - You must connect to your phone by Bluetooth, not by wifi or a cable.
    - The Garmin Connect Mobile app must be running on your phone.
    - Windows Phone will not work: that version of Garmin Connect Mobile does not provide a usable data connection.
Once setup, our apps do not need the phone connection during your run or ride.
  • Garmin installer says my device firmware is not up to date
Try undocking your watch, and you may find that it will then install and restart with updated firmware. Then redock and install the app again. You may need to try this a few times. Also try powering your watch off completely and restarting it.
  • I cannot find the app on my watch
On the Garmin Forerunner 230/235/630/735XT and Fenix 3/5 watches you press the Start button when on the main (watch face) page, and your installed apps are there with the activity types, such as Run.

The dynamicWatch Import Page and Chrome Extension Button can save routes/courses and activities/trips from the following websites:

  • Garmin Connect: courses and activities
  • MapMyRun/MapMyRide (Under Armour): routes and workouts
  • Ride with GPS: routes and trips
  • Strava: routes, segments and activities. Your own activities will be imported at full quality. Other rider's activities will be imported at a lower quality level. If you are a Strava Premium member you can get a full quality export of another rider's activity by pressing the GPX export button on the activity at Strava then importing the GPX file into our site here.
  • Gpsies: tracks
  • OutdoorActive: tours
  • Bikemap.net: routes
  • MTB Project, Hiking Project, Trailrun Project: routes
  • Trailforks: routes and trails
  • GPStracks.nl: routes
  • Openrunner: routes. Make sure you are actually viewing the route you want to import, as Openrunner does not change the URL as you browse between routes. Click on the Route ID in Description - General Information at the bottom of the route page and use the URL shown there.

Link your Garmin Connect, Strava, Under Armour, Ride with GPS and MTB/Hiking/Trailrun Project accounts on your Linked Accounts settings page to make the most of the button with those sites.

Please check the above guides for the fastest access to the information you need.
